Some doctors are just too good!

Have you ever wondered how a chance meeting can just change a life for ever?

Well, it just did to me.

I was on a short trip to South of India earlier this year and from then on my attitude towards life changed completely.

It was as if destined that I actually bumped into a clinic there when I met this doctor. And I don’t think I have met any such person ever… With all due respects to my friends, well wishers some of whom are doctors by profession… but this one person was different.

As if we were supposed to meet by any odds, we just became very friendly and talked and talked for hours… I guess that night was in many ways a revelation of sorts…

To begin with, he is 10 years younger than me. I mean just 27 years old. Recently finished his MBBS. He’s already employed as a govt doctor and taking care of cases that are immediate and require critical care. Very soon he will be doing further specialization in anesthetic or some similar level (If I understood this correctly!)

But yes, this doesn’t make him a special person I agree.

Here is a doctor who wants to be in the same village where he has spent his 27 years of his life and give back what he got from his home town. Imagine the professionals today (Me included!)… the moment we get some status and respect in society in terms of designations, titles etc… we raise our head high in the air as if we are so far sighted… we head towards foreign shores… And then there are people like this doctor who want to stay in their home country and give back what they got from their motherland. Truly amazing thought!

It’s a small and virtually a sleepy district.
I mean imagine you are from any of the metros and you have had a chance to be here. By 08:00 pm people wind up their work and head home. Shops are closed at the same time. Streets are almost dark and deserted with very few cycles, bikes, share autos and govt buses roaming the streets… I sometimes wonder how can a place like this accept a person like me… I mean I am a night person. My day starts only after eight…. and here’s a place where all ends at this time…

I would surely not dig deeper into his past, but after having spoken to him I could imagine his upbringing. If he is what he is today, I would surely credit this to another usually unsung hero… his mother. Troubled brewed into her paradise early on but she kept her head high and brought up her son in the most amazing way. She is still working odd hours and truly by God’s grace, her son is a doctor today! This may really sound filmy but a true reflection of our society today. We may fail to notice all these but ultimately these are the things that are worthy of mention and not the other material things man accomplishes! A house, car etc will come to us anytime but such upbringing and outlook towards life is what makes life worth living…

Thats not enough…

I was all the more amazed to hear from this gentleman that he has 36 kids!!!
Yes, he’s responsible towards 36 kids. Isn’t that amazing? I mean just imagine, your life, your thoughts involves around raising 36 kids. These kids are sourced out from various villages across his district and all these kids are orphans. Some are abandoned. Some are neglected child. Some lost their parents in some natural calamity…

I was taken aback with this number. I mean these days we barely raise one kid decently and here is a young man, just married and having a life of his own who manages an orphanage… Truly amazing! What’s more? He has a wife who truly supports his cause and every thought!

This doctor does not want them to be sent to foster homes. His objective is to raise these kids well, give them proper education and make them responsible citizens who will carry this light as they grow. I was touched beyond words. So much so that I addressed him as Sir or Doctor than call by his first name. I even touched his feet for what he has been doing…

I guess in my lifetime, I have rarely seen such people with mighty heart and amazing will to do what he has been doing. And kudos to him and his mom always standing by his decision…

It’s a huge responsibility and a very tough path to even take up what he has been doing… And I am sure God is watching all this and extremely happy with what this amazing person is upto…

The Santa in your life…

Santa Claus

How often do you realize that the person you are living with, been with or even least to say… that you know is someone really special!

You realize it late or maybe only if something has happened.

When you wake up and ponder over the days gone by… like a flash of a moment, you realize “Gosh, he was all here and I didn’t even care”

Well that’s past. You have to forget them and move forward… they say!

It’s so easy to say “Let’s just forget and move ahead” but do we really move ahead without thinking about the past?

I somehow cannot fathom it!

It all keeps coming back to you only to form a full circle.

We had a Santa in our life… all our lives.

He was there all along with us and we used to have the best time ever… (Atleast this is what he used to think!) But alas he was one of the ignored lots!

You cannot be friendly with people almost five times your age!

It’s not just about a generation gap but it’s like two different worlds… Earth v/s Mars!

But this Santa was different. He was all rolled into one! Everything a kid desires from a Santa.

Gifts, goodies, company, friendship… everything used to come to us only at the right moment!

And they leave no stone unturned to live upto our fantasies.

But we are too busy chasing our dreams. Money, house, better prospects, lifestyle… it just too happens too soon and all of a sudden we are far, far away from them… who were once our Santa! We had so much to talk… so much they had to hear from us even at the cost of telling them the same thing over and again.

And what do we give back in return… Nothing!

We call it the generation gap to ease our conscience. Whereas in reality it’s only a matter of shifting our priorities! They suddenly become “Un-cool” for us!

I am sure you too would have a Santa in your life.

If he’s there with you, make him realize that you are there.

Accept, admit and keep thanking for all that he has done for you. Reciprocate back with a simple “I love you” or a mere “Thank you”. They don’t need money. They didn’t need it then to raise you… why would they need it now?

How much would it cost to spare a few minutes of your precious time?

How long does it take to just sit next to him saying so many things without even telling him anything?

If you have such a Santa in your life… Make sure to be his reindeer now…

Without him none of these stories would have come to life and none of our dreams a reality!

Merry Christmas!

The Guardian Angel

maternity-newborn-photography1

He was a man, a very tough man
Fought the war and life
Until he grew tired till the last breath

He wanted a child and a family
Alas fate had a different plan
But life took a different turn for what he saw
A little girl with tiny hands and angelic face
Forgot the war and everything around
Took her in his arms and called her a name
So he became a father and now a family man!

Now again fate had a different plan
Wife is gone, all alone in the chill of the night
Starry skies and questions abound
Little girl in his arms, a life long quest for happiness

Little girl, woman now and wiser more
Time to dream and milestones to accomplish
Life ahead with so many wishes
His time to rest and leave to her desires

A tiny hands crept on his chest while he rested
Till he became a toddler at heart
He is now a tough man, a very tough man
Fought for their lives and loved them more as a mother!

As if not over yet… fate still had a different plan
Little girl, woman now alas no more!
“No use crying” said he
The tiny hands now crept upon his arms
He kept walking while wiping away the tears!

Days passed by blurring his vision
Happiness rested on his cheeks
When the tiny hands became a man

The cycle of life has to go on
So does the quest for man’s happiness
He was a man, a very tough man
Life’s wish worth fulfilled
For he got where he was meant to be
When he was sent back as an angel
To his man who planned a family!

Little master turns twenty when Indians take on Lankans!!

2h5l4cl

The title will not puzzle cricket fans around the world as everyone will be aware of what it means. The title will not puzzle even those people who are not cricket fans but watch Tendulkar play cricket. Yes we don’t have to be a cricket fan to admire the artwork that Tendulkar employs when he steps in the 22 yards. I don’t believe there is any other category exist other than the cricket fans and non-cricket fans, but still as a title it demands explanation.

“Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar, famously known as Little Master, joins the list of 15 other players whose international careers have spanned for more than 20 years”. This is the message!!

Cricket is a beautiful game not because everyone loves it, but because of the flavor of its own. You need to be an artist to score runs. With the advent of twenty-twenty format, cricket has become more of power hitting game. But the fact is otherwise. Can any one of us forget the knock of 175 by Tendulkar against Australia in the recently concluded one day series?? Will any one of us say that knock as a power hitting or slogging?? . If we have to seek explanation for the definition of cricket, we have to watch that knock of artistry!!

More than a cricketer, Sachin is a gentle man.

He had his tough times but showed right spirit even in trying circumstances. He said “People threw stones at me, but I have converted it into milestones”.

Such is the character of this great man. I am not saying he is the greatest of all, but he is one of those characters which we can look upon for emulation.

Records are meant to be broken and little master is doing exactly that!
