10 things I wish my kids carry with them…

You are what you wear up your sleeve. Your society is a reflection of who you are and what you do…
In many ways than one, it is ultimately in our hands to mold things around us. There are few amongst us who want to make it a better place.

I don’t know to what extent will my contribution would apply but there are ten things that I would advise my kids to always carry with them…

The right attitude
I can’t imagine a person without this. I mean the positive ones of course. No matter what my dear kids… make sure to get hooked onto only the positive attitudes

Past is yesterday, today is tomorrow
Always be farsighted. Never turn back. Unless you wanna say good bye and always hope for the best

Always on the Go.. but no E-Go!
Always be ready for the next leap. That next step. That milestone. Have no ego… no matter what

Say it with… a Yes!
Always be ready to grab opportunities. Don’t be shy of them. Grab it when you can

A noble heart
Always have empathy towards the old and the poor. Coz’ you’ll grow old one day and it doesn’t take time to turn poor!

And a rational mind
When taking decisions, think from your mind. Let your heart keep you rooted on the ground and your mind towards the sky. While taking decisions, be wise and remember while in the process… never ever hurt anyone!

So sorry… I love you
The words may be easy but always use them wherever and whenever you can. While doing so… mean what you say! Always show your feelings to your loved ones!

The big picture
Always focus on the big picture. It’s OK if you are hurt by someone or something or some action. But focus about the larger issues. It is easy to get carried away with small and paltry things…

Give back what you have got!
Always spend some time in something where you don’t expect anything in return. It could be aid, help, charity whatever your heart sets it’s mind on! And while doing that don’t boast your achievements.

One for the road…
Always carry your iPod with you. Your fave collection of songs/ albums/ artists… They provide great company even during the most sober times…

Dear child, we may not be there forever with you as you keep going ahead.
Our pride is not in providing you food, shelter or all the other materialistic comforts in the world…

But this is all we can offer you for your incredible journey called… Life!

We hope you pack these well and have a wonderful journey!

Handbook for 2010

I guess I should have posted this at the start of this year.

But hey, we still have a good 10 months ahead and a whole life in front of us. And besides, I didn’t get this mail before. So here I am with a new post about positivity. A guide to take you through the rough patches…

In our daily rush of life how many things we are ignoring, missing… I guess it’s time we make something out of our lives…

Rejoice to Health

  • Drink plenty of water
  • Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar
  • Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants
  • Live with the 3 E’s — Energy, Enthusiasm and Empathy
  • Make time to pray
  • Play more games
  • Read more books than you did in 2009
  • Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day
  • Sleep for 7 hours
  • Take a 10-30 minutes walk daily. And while you walk, smile.

Your Personality:

  • Don’t compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about
  • Don’t have negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment
  • Don’t over do. Keep your limits
  • Don’t take yourself so seriously. No one else does
  • Don’t waste your precious energy on gossip
  • Dream more while you are awake
  • Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need
  • Forget issues of the past. Don’t remind your partner with His/her mistakes of the past. That will ruin your present happiness
  • Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Don’t hate others
  • Make peace with your past so it won’t spoil the present
  • No one is in charge of your happiness except you
  • Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime
  • Smile and laugh more
  • You don’t have to win every argument. Agree to disagree..

A call to Society:

  • Call your family often
  • Each day give something good to others
  • Forgive everyone for everything
  • Spend time w/ people over the age of 70 & under the age of 6
  • Try to make at least three people smile each day
  • What other people think of you is none of your business
  • Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will

How you look at Life:

  • Do the right thing!
  • Get rid of anything that isn’t useful, beautiful or joyful
  • GOD heals everything
  • However good or bad a situation is, it will change
  • No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up..
  • The best is yet to come
  • When you awake alive in the morning, thank GOD for it
  • Your Inner most is always happy. So, be happy

I would like to thank my cousin Maya for sharing this wonderful piece via email
