I love reality shows.
For one, they don’t bore me to death like the routine serials.
Secondly, the initial part of all reality shows is what ticks me. The contestants and their raw mannerisms.
“I want my fame thing and I’ll get it even if it’s for a minute or two” kind of attitude.
But that’s about it.
I can’t stand the episodes that follow where each elimination that they have goes into a break so as to put you off completely.
Imagine you are about to know who’s gonna be eliminated and then bingo! comes another break. What the f&^% man!
Then comes the mother of all shows “The Indian Idol” As they claim it to be.
Well none it is according to me by any standards. Guys, look at what Sa Re Ga Ma Pa have delivered in terms of stars. Shreya Ghosal… sirf naam hi kaafi hai!
Look at Indian Idol… Abhijeet Sawant… the poor guy looks the same no matter what makeover he goes through. Boy, he does everything except singing!
Now look at the lows of this show:
- Anu Malik. The eternal copycat of Bollywood does not seem to fade away from sight, does he? I mean there is the II-5 this guys still hangs around
- How come you call it Indian Idol whereas you completely ignore states like Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Now please don’t tell me that you are covering Hyderabad so let the guys from these two states come and participate. All it takes is just two more stops Chennai and Cochin. Don’t we have national stars like AR Rahman and KJ Yesudas who hail from the south (Plus the long list of all other stars down south) So, to me this is not an Indian Idol to begin with!
- The judges keep on fighting on who’s best and whose worst. Where they mean is the overall look and attitude. Boss, aren’t we searching a music talent? Anyone with such attitude can opt for a Miss India or maybe the Gladrags Manhunt for God’s sake!
- Anu Malik disagrees with every judge for no rhyme or reason (God I hate him no wonder)
Then the mother of all stupidity pops in… Last night we were watching the show and that’s when it blew my top! Imagine the contestants have reached a level where they are into the top 6 or 8 ranks.
Technically speaking, well if that’s true that is… These contestants are supposed to be the cream of what they have sifted through.
These contestants are supposed to be good singers period! I mean they may do their little bit mistakes here and there which is so normal even amongst established singers… But what irritates me is that the Judges still giving basic singing tips on how to sing that song which you normally give to participants at the initial stages.
“Dear Judges, don’t you think you could have given these tips/ chances to people you just shooed off saying they are bad singers?” during the earlier rounds.
Atleast that way the top six would have been the best of the lot.
Look at what participants we have in the final top six.
The two girls… They look good… So what? Boy can they sing? No way!
I have seen the judges giving too much gyaan to these two singers who with each and every performance prove that this one is worse than the other!
So many good talents have been whipped off in the bargain.
I can only think of Geetesh. There were still many good singers besides him… but this guy just stuck around in my memory!
The guy walked in. Started off with a carnatic rendition and jumped to a Sufi number and finally ending with a pop song. Gosh what a transition!
I would have straight away taken him to the top 8 to say the least.
The judges could have worked on singers like him. Really separate the chaff from the wheat and given us the Idol who truly represents the concept for what it is.
But then you know… I don’t trust the judges themselves. Yes, they have given few hits here and there. That’s about it? And they don’t feature in any of my favorite’s list.
I guess I’ll just move myself to watching other shows and Idle around rather than worry about this Idol!
Coz this show is really searching for that great IDLE INDIAN!
